BEHRENS B027 In-House Manual Wind Movement
With a preset goal to be a true watch brand, BEHRENS has long planned for the development of in-house caliber movement since years ago. With this upcoming official launch of BEHRENS “”PERIGEE” model series, we have finally announced our 1st Cal.BM01 which is a manual wind movement completely developed in-house by our engineering team.
The design of Cal.BM01 movement is to integrate and adopt modern architectural elements into the structure (holding plates) of the movement to add a modern touch. The basic bridges and main plate will be black coated to add contrast. There will be a new clutching mechanism for the winding system. A power reserve indicator and with the design of the bridges, the gear train can be clearly seen.
The concept idea of PERIGEE is to obtain all the unique mechanical functions that we have developed over the years. From which the domed globe 24-hour indicator and the moon track system which have been our signature designs from previous models. To add more to this unique PERIGEE model, we have also developed a chain driven hours display and an all-new retrograde minute’s mechanism.

The Rubies Chain Hours Display System
What makes this rubies chain system so special is that each of the links of the chain will be installed with rubies at the linkage to minimize friction to gain overall efficiency and to avoid energy / power lost. The difficulties for making this chain mechanism are that it requires a very high precision for production of parts as well as installation skills, so that it can be operated properly under different environments (such as temperature difference).
